This blog is a little different…. I wanted to try some non invasive cosmetic treatments to improve the quality and texture of the skin on my body. Natural ways to prevent signs of ageing are always a great interest of mine. I had read some collagen bed reviews, and wanted to try it for myself!

You have probably read my blog about about dry skin brushing for improving skin quality in the past. Well I decided to go more high tech, and organised to try out the RFBBL and Collagen bed treatments available at Vale Beauty Room in Woodpark, Sydney.

What are they?

RFBBL is a treatment for your buttocks area to improve skin quality, tightness and reduce cellulite. It uses a radio frequency machine that penetrates deep into the tissue to stimulate the production of collagen, contour, tighten and lift the skin and tissue and leave you with a smoother and firmer behind.

BBL comes from the surgical procedure Brazilian Butt Lift, designed for a fuller smoother rounder buttocks. This RFBBL treatment is non invasive, and involves no down time or pain or incisions.

Radio frequency treatments can be performed anywhere you wish to see these skin tightening results. It can even be done on the face around the jaw line!

What did it feel like?

Firstly, I laid on the bed and a cool gel was applied to my buttocks area. This is so the machine can move smoothly across your skin and transmit the radio frequency deep into your tissue. The machine feels warm on your skin, and the therapist moves it up and down your thighs and glutes in strokes and circular motions to contour and stimulate collagen. It really feels like a warm massage. I was notified that in some instances you could get a little bit of soreness after, but I didn’t have any residual feelings like that. My skin felt smooth and firm and I noticed a reduction in the appearance of cellulite on the back of my thighs.

How many sessions does it take?

It’s recommended to come for 6-10 sessions in a treatment plan. Ideally the sessions should be spaced 2-4 weeks apart.

Cost: $150 for 1 hour of RF treatment, or $100 for 30 mins RF treatment. There is currently a deal on for 5 sessions and 1 free at $750

Collagen Bed

This totally looks like a solarium except it is RED not blue! Using a similar bed to a solarium, the collagen bed actually uses specialist red light globes that stimulate collagen production in your skin.

The proposed mechanism of action is like this: red and infrared wavelengths of light can penetrate your skin and stimulate more efficient energy production within the mitochondria. This facilitates your fibroblast cells to create more natural collagen within your body.

Studies have demonstrated the ability of red light treatment to improve parameters of collagen quality and production in respect to fine lines and tightness of skin. It is a useful treatment for those seeking a noninvasive anti-aging skin rejuvenation treatment.

What did it feel like?

I laid in the bed in some bathers and applied the protective eye goggles. The bed was turned on for 30 minutes and I was left to bask in the red glow it created. As a result the bed soon heated up, I was warm and comfortable. I almost fell asleep just relaxing in there.

How many sessions does it take?

It’s recommended to do 2-3 sessions per week until desired results are seen!

Cost: currently there is a promotion $50 for a single session. Usually $89

6 sessions = $300

12 sessions = $540

20 sessions = $800

I can’t wait for the final outcome of my RFBBL and collagen bed treatments. My skin definitely feels softer already from the collagen beds I have already done.

  1. That’s so neat that you have a business that offers those treatments near you! I have no idea if there are places near me that do them, but now I’m curious to find out 😛
